We are holding our meetings at the outdoor range

The cement under the 100 - 200 yard benches is finally poured - what a fight - we picked the rainiest and windiest afternoon of the spring to do it. The pad for the new sign in - sign out cover is done also.

We had some so/so weather for the range clean up but quite a few things were accomplished. There are always many other things to do but as a whole the range really looks good.

Tom Hanson built several steel tubes for squib or dud rounds, they are painted bright orange and located midway on both covers. Please use these to dispose of your dud or squib rounds instead of the burning barrels or garbage cans. Thanks to Tom for seeing the need and taking care of the building and mounting of these.

Member Dave Johnson donated seven loads of gravel for our roads - they were very soft this spring but this should help tremendously.

Many - many club members old and new are making a big difference in this club - it makes me very proud to be a member.

We are very close to having our range electrified - if not finished in May for sure in June.

The club owes a big thank you to the members that helped out with all the work done so far this spring - it's been very busy.

It must finally be spring - no I didn't see my first robin - I saw Gary Satern mowing the trees on the west side of the range. I again need to ask for volunteers for trimming around trees and fences and whatever else. Everyone doesn't have a big mower to mow at the range but even a push mower or weed whip works good for trimming and that does save a lot of time for the fellas on the riders. With 195 members if everyone trimmed fifteen minutes, that would more than complete the trimming for a year.

The last meeting we had over 50 people attending. We had a little bit of trap shooting before and after the meeting, with good weather for once to boot. It was brought up at a previous month's meeting that we have not been making a donation to the NRA-ILA from profits from the club's gun show. We were talking about several ways to collect donations for this worthy organization when the hat was just spontaneously passed around and at the end of the meeting we had collected $136 to send in. Excellent participation by everyone. Next month before the meeting we will be sighting in 22 rim fire rifles for silhouette shooting after the meeting. The first silhouette match is June 13th at 1 PM so this sight in and practice will work out great for those of you wanting to try metallic silhouette. This match isn't just for members it is open to the public so if you have a friend or coworker that may be interested bring them out to the meeting or the match. If you have any other questions about the match you can contact
Todd Cash at 1-641-494-6660.
